Department Overview:

Academic Coaching and Tutoring Services is part of the Division of Diversity, Equity and Educational Achievement. The DDEEA units include the Center for educational Opportunity (CeO), Posse, McNair, First Wave, PEOPLE, Chancellor’s and Power-Knapps Scholars and our scholars who identify as native/Indigenous.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Students (sophomores or higher) & Graduate students with teaching/tutoring experience in various subjects.
  • Enrolled at UW-Madison as a student with overall GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Interested in working with undergraduate students from various backgrounds.
  • Must be able to perform all job responsibilities both in person and remotely.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in the discipline you anticipate to virtually support. Must earn at least an AB or better in the course interested in coaching.
  • Willing to work in group or one-on-one virtual settings, attend virtual training sessions, and maintain regular hours with the program.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Problem Solving/organizational skills for the subject. 
  • Innovative way of teaching. 

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Work in one-on-one, mini group of 2 students max or a large group (3-5) setting providing students with academic virtual coaching/tutoring, including time management, and study skills development.
  • Maintain regular schedules with DDEEA students.
  • Work with the ACTS team to coordinate necessary support for students both in person and remotely.
  • Track, complete, and submit online mandatory forms.
  • Attend remote academic coach trainings as needed.
  • Follow ACTS, DDEEA policies and guidelines.
  • Must be able to perform all job responsibilities.
