Black Girl Magic Educational Services is a Black Women led non-profit organization that provides opportunities for Black girls by empowering them to let their natural gifts shine, cultivating leadership skills while centering youth voice in decision making, and forming a safe and affirming community where girls can authentically and unapologetically be themselves.

Afterschool times vary by school, but most middle schools programs will run from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm or 4:00 pm-6:00 pm and most elementary schools will run from 2:45 pm-4:00 pm.

Qualifications:

Current admitted undergraduate or graduate students
Professional, personal, or lived experience related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Experience or interest in facilitating conversations with individuals and/or groups with diverse perspectives and experiences.
This position is in-person. Transportation to a community site is required and transportation support may be available, if needed. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Passion for working with Black girls.
Ability to communicate effectively with kids, families, and colleagues.
Experience with youth
Knowledge of child development is a plus.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Black Girl Magic Girls Groups provide a space for Black girls to create positive
relationships with adult facilitators and their peers while strengthening the natural circles of support they already possess. The groups meet weekly, focusing on positive identity development, leadership skills, mental health, cultural representation, navigating relationships, and more. There will also be consistent opportunities for family and community engagement.

Duties may include: 
Committing to consistently facilitating a group once a week after school at a Madison-area elementary or middle school (Schools TBD)
Afterschool times vary by school, but most middle school programs will run from 3:30-5:30 pm or 4:00-6:00 pm, and most elementary schools will run from 2:45 pm-4:00 pm
Collaborating with Black Girl Magic and school-based staff
Planning for and leading weekly groups
Leading community-building events for the girls and families
Making connections with teachers and school/community staff
Build relationships with students and their families
Be visible in the school building (in classrooms, and at family events), as schedule allows
Attend facilitator trainings and seminars
*Opportunities to work at MSCR after school on additional days (if desired and depending on the school)*

Physical Demands:

Lift up to 30 lbs, participate in movement activities, some walking.
