Department Overview:
The Law Library's mission is to foster research and learning for the UW Law School and the University communities. The Circulation Desk is the first point of contact at the library and supports this mission by: providing circulation services for patrons, including checking out and returning library materials; responding to a variety of questions; and retrieving and shelving materials that are housed behind the Circulation Desk.

As early as 5/12. All interviews will be conducted virtually.

As long as they are enrolled, student workers are eligible to continue working. We are looking for students able to continue into fall semester.

Schedule:
9-20 hours per week (depending on yours and others' availability) Shifts are scheduled during the Law Library's open hours. Our summer hours are: Mon-Thurs 8:30am-10pm Fri 8:30am-6pm Sat 10am-6pm Sunday 10am-10pm There will be a regular weekly schedule created for the summer and for each semester.

Qualifications:
Work-study applicants are preferred. Student status is required, but you do not need to be registered for summer classes. Previous library experience is not required. We take all different types of personal and work experience into account when hiring for this customer service-oriented position.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Circulation Desk Assistant's primary responsibility is to provide friendly, efficient, and well-informed service to Law Library patrons. Job duties include: • Checking out materials to patrons • Processing returned materials • Responding to patron questions, in person and on the phone • Managing and reserving study rooms • Locating and shelving materials behind the Circulation Desk • Assisting patrons with printing and scanning • Assisting patrons in navigating the Law Library website and library catalog • Actively participating in an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful workplace • Other tasks as assigned
Physical Demands:
Job requires: • Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time • Bending down to retrieve and shelve • Occasionally traverse around multiple floors of library to assist patrons when necessary
