Department Overview:
UW-Madison Division of Extension Human Development and Relationships Institute We promote the development of resilient individuals, families, and communities across Wisconsin at every stage of life through meaningful partnerships and research-based education. Our Institute has over 400 partnerships across Wisconsin. We work with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and business leaders to deliver our programming to residents. Our institute receives federal, state, and county funds. Our partnerships are critically important to Extension and the communities we serve. Some of our main assets are our community-based educators and campus-based specialists.

Schedule:
The hours for this position will be approximately 10-15 hours per week potential for extension through summer up to 25 hours per week.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications: Relevant education, coursework, or experience related to communication and social media strategy Employment will require a criminal background check Student must be enrolled for credit at an educational institution. Student will need to show proof of enrollment before starting. Preferred Qualifications: Education or experience in developing, delivering outreach programs for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Required: Ability to navigate the Canva Platform Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills Ability to build and maintain professional work environments Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology Ability to effectively work with people from different backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity Understanding of or interest in learning about eAccessibility requirements for documents and other media Experience managing multiple tasks and timelines while maintaining high-quality work Self-motivated and team-oriented Education or experience with graphic design software (Adobe Suites, Canva, etc.), and social media platforms Preferred: Active Presence on a variety of social Media Platforms Experienced Graphic design skills
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Position Goals: To improve internal and external communications (social media, newsletter, website, etc.) of the Human Development and Relationships Institute To collaboratively develop a social media strategy for Family Engagement and Relationships, Financial Education, and Life Span programs To create and share stories of state and county programs with participants, collaborators, and external stakeholders To support the overall program needs beyond communication Position Responsibilities: Collaborate with supervisor and key partners to design and develop social media and newsletter content, press releases, and communications relating to future, present, and past HDRI programming Track social media and newsletter engagement to evaluate the effectiveness of the communications strategy and navigate social media analytics Align communication across platforms: website, newsletter, social media, video content, etc. Develop resources for local county educators to use in promoting HDRI programming Provide occasional general program support for upcoming HDRI projects Meet regularly with supervisor and key Extension communication team partners Assist with Planning Ahead, Literacy Link, Raising Wisconsin Parent Conference, and Fathers in Focus Conference by making copies, mailing, editing letters, and working with other student staff on projects
Physical Demands:
Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds
