Qualifications:
Obtain American Red Cross or the American Heart Association in CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within the first month of employment. Rec Well works with you to obtain this certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
No prior climbing experience necessary! All required skills will be taught during staff training sessions Passion to learn about the sport of climbing Commitment to upholding the mission, vision and values of University Recreation & Wellbeing on and off-shift After completing required trainings, demonstrate a high level of climbing equipment knowledge and usage Intentionally build a climbing community where everyone can feel included Provide excellent belaying techniques Maintain a working knowledge of Climbing Wall Programs at UW Madison
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Provide safe, fun and educational climbing opportunities Ensure members are ahering to climbing wall policies and procedures Check in members and equipment using the Fusion software Assist new members with climbing techniques and proper equipment usafe Belay, spot, and assist members with indoor rock climbing Conduct top rope skills verifications Maintain a clean and functional climbing wall facility
Physical Demands:
Ability to belay from a seated or standing position. Accommodations can be made for people with varying degrees of ability
