Qualifications:
Applicants must be a current student and have completed at least their 1st year at a university in a STEM major with interest in working in the technical aspects of imaging or therapy systems used in medicine, with the potential to explore further research in graduate studies or a technical career. Position Summary/Job Duties:
Complete directed research and training under a medical physics faculty, carrying out computational, experimental or developmental work in one of a range of sub-disciplines (as described above). Daily work will involve either computer or experimental work, with daily interaction to iterate on solutions to scientific problems in medical imaging or therapy. Completion of training and participation in ASSURE co-curricular enrichment about science education and scientific career development is required as part of the experience. This program matches accepted student applicants into an internship position in one of our research laboratories. Research may be in one of the major research areas of the department that includes: Imaging with Biomagnetism, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance, Molecular Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Optical systems, Radiation Metrology, Ultrasound or X-ray systems. Therapy research is in Image Guidance, Radiation Therapy, and Theranostics.
Physical Demands:
Sitting and standing for long periods of time, must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
