Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be creative, fun-loving, self-motivated, have strong writing and editing skills, and have experience with social media including Twitter and Facebook. Experience navigating or using web-based media including WordPress and email marketing is a bonus. Knowledge of and interest in agriculture. natural resource, or water resource management and experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Regardless of your background a desire to contribute to efforts to sustainably manage natural resources is essential!

Employment will require a criminal background check. Student must be enrolled for credit at an educational institution. Student will need to show proof of enrollment before starting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Detail-oriented, self-driven, responsible, reliable, individual who has the ability to work in a team setting. Be able to handle multiple ongoing projects.
• Experience writing and editing blogs, articles, or feature stories.
• Strong knowledge and familiarity in digital marketing and social media.
• Interest and familiarity with foundational communication strategy concepts.
• Experience with internet research and ability to analyze information and make recommendations (finding sources, checking URLs for broken links, and determining a replacement, etc.).
• Interest or experience in sustainability, natural resources, or environmental sciences preferred.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

UW-Madison Extension's Natural Resources Institute is seeking a Digital Marketing Assistant with demonstrated skills in communications, digital marketing, and social media. The Digital Marketing Assistant will work with the Natural Resources Institute Communication and Marketing Unit Lead to perform a communication audit of existing communications, develop a strategic communications plan for the Institute, and develop engaging multimedia content for our audiences. The digital marketing assistant will also help write articles on the latest news and events from Institute programs, promote upcoming programs and events, assist with email marketing campaigns.

This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student looking to work in the communications and marketing field in the life sciences!
