Department Overview:
The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.
Anticipated Hours Per Week
8 to 15
Schedule:
During training, the schedule is flexible and moves around based on class schedule and availability. Once training is finished, Event Managers have a set schedule for the semester
On average, most Event Managers work 8-15 hours per week.
Unit hours are: Monday through Friday 7am-8pm. There are opportunities for evening and weekend hours.
Salary/Wage Range:
Hourly $16.00 to $16.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Oversee functioning of operating units, events, and buildings during the week day and some nights and weekends
Provide excellent customer service to patrons, guests, and customers
Explain and enforce policies and procedures
Ensure security in buildings
Students have a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth during their tenure as an Event Manager. Individuals can expect to gain leadership, communication, interpersonal, and managerial skills.
Position is at Memorial Union, Union South, Grainger Hall and/or Pyle Center
Qualifications:
Dependability
Ability to use good judgment in decision-making
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to lead and direct support staff
Strong Organizational skills, as well as attention to detail
Able to work independently and as a team
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
