I am seeking a part-time summer nanny for 20-30 hours per week. We are a warm, welcoming, laid-back family living in the near-west side (a few blocks from the Trader Joe's). I (mom) am a healthcare provider and work both in an outpatient clinic and at the hospital. I sometimes work overnights and weekends. I have three sweet school-aged children: girl (11), boy (8), and boy (6). The girl is finishing 6th grade in June, and loves reading and pop music (especially Taylor Swift). She is very mature and talkative. The 8 yo boy is into airplanes, army men, and legos. He is the quietest of the bunch but is very chatty and goofy once he gets to know you. The youngest loves art (especially drawing), Pokemon cards, soccer, and playing with whatever his brother is playing with. He is very outgoing and social.
I need childcare help the following dates this summer:
- May 9 - June 11
- July 6 - August 3
During the first half of the summer (May 9-June 11), childcare will be for all three kids. They will still be in school during this time, which runs Monday - Friday from 7:30 - 5:30 (except Wednesdays, when they dismiss at 2:30). Help needed during this time will consist of:
- Wednesday afternoons (2:30-5:30 or 2:30-8:00) (every week)
PLUS SOME COMBINATION OF -
- Weekday evenings (5:30-8:00)
- Overnights (7:30 pm - 7:30 am)
Total hours per week will be no more than 20-30 hrs/week (Wednesday afternoon always, plus some combination of the other above shifts). During this half of summer, you will have weekends off, except for two overnight shifts on May 10th and June 7th.
For the second half of the summer, childcare will be for the 6 y/o boy only, as the older two kids are at a sleepaway camp. He will be going to summer camp during the day (7:30 - 5:30). Available shifts will be a mix of
- Morning dropoff (6:45am - 7:45am)
- Weekday evening (5:30-8:00p)
- Overnights (7:30 pm - 7:30 am)
- Weekend days
Again, total hours will be 20-30/week from some mixture of the above shifts. There will be one weekend shift during this time, the rest are off.
There will be a break from June 12- July 5 where no childcare is needed as the kids are on a family vacation.
This is a relatively easy job, as the kids are school-aged (all three are independent in dressing, using bathroom, etc) and away at school/camp during the day. Evening shifts will mainly consit of picking them up from school/camp, feeding them a simple dinner, making sure they get homework done, and then chilling and watching tv until I get home. I sometimes work overnight at the hospital and therefore need overnight childcare. For these, kids will already be fed before you arrive. Just arrive around 7:30 and do bedtime routine (they are lights out at 8 pm). All three kids are great sleepers and don't wander in the night, so this shift couldn't be easier. We have a comfortable guest bedroom for you to sleep in with full-size bed. Some weekend/evening shifts may also include drop off/pickup for activities.
We are looking for someone who is
- reliable and mature
- enjoys working with kids
- valid drivers license (we have a car for your use while babysitting)
Ideally looking for one candidate to work both parts of the summer, but open to hiring one person for May and another for July. We will also have childcare needs during the 2025-26 school year, so someone who wants to pickup overnight/weekend shifts in the fall would be great (would not be as many hours as summer).
If interested, please send an email introducing yourself and attaching your resume.
Thank you!
