-Attention to detail and organizational skills, punctual, reliable attendance, and flexible -Previous experience or willingness to develop skills to be a positive role model and mentor to high school students, especially those who may need more support engaging in the community -Previous experience or strong desire to work with and empower students from diverse backgrounds(cultural, economic, ethnic, and regional backgrounds) -Ability to enforce WSB Precollege policies and procedures -Understanding of diversity and inclusion and a willingness to learn more about these topics in order to create and support inclusive spaces -Highly motivated and a strong initiative to learn about Wisconsin School of Business services and resources -Must possess excellent interpersonal communication, group facilitation, and social emotional skills -Ability to be a team player and leader in different situations and shift to meet the changing needs of WSB Precollege programs -Valid driver's license to operate UW fleet vehicles preferred but not required

Position Summary/Job Duties:
|
The Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) Precollege Program offers an array of immersive programs that supports high school students’ career exploration, including school year workshops, summer day camps, and a three-week summer residential program, Bridge to BEL for incoming, first year BEL scholarship recipients. WSB Precollege Participants learn about the WSB Undergraduate programs, explore business majors through job shadowing and networking opportunities, explore their personal identities, and participate in applied learning activities. Participation in this program will give students a distinct competitive advantage when adjusting to college life, learning in classes, and applying for internship opportunities, ultimately preparing them for successful business careers.
WSB Precollege Student Leaders (PSL’s) will support all aspects of WSB Precollege Summer Day camps; Business Basics and Junior Business Badgers and Bridge to BEL residential program. PSL’s will supervise youth participating in camp activities on and off campus and in residential housing. PSL’s will provide guidance, ensure safety, leadership, and serve as mentors to program participants.
*Duties and Responsibilities: -Facilitate activities that promote leadership, teamwork, diversity and inclusion -Work closely with and under the supervision of the BEL and Precollege Program Managers and Director of BEL and Precollege Programs -Contribute to creating safe and inclusive, spaces that promotes and supports personal growth and diverse experiences of program participants -Assist program staff and instructors with planning and executing all program activities, excursions, and events -Support the facilitation of workshops about professional development, college readiness, and related topics -Provide insight and feedback to staff and instructors to effectively engage participants -Anticipate, understand, and address the academic/social needs and interests of high school youth -Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings -Adhere to Communicable Disease Plan to ensure the health and safety of scholars and staff -Other relevant duties as assigned
*Compensation: $5,940 stipend, * This amount is pre-tax.* Housing provided Meal plan provided
**Requirements: Must be able to commit to working all of the dates of employment in order to receive full stipend amount. Staff are required to live in University Housing from Sunday, July 6th to Saturday, August 1st. Staff can start living in University Housing as early as June 7th, if that is a need. Staff must participate in the following training dates: Monday, June 8th – Friday, June 12th, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm (No training scheduled on July 4th) Monday, July 6th - Wednesday, July 8th, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Physical Demands:

Occasionally lifting items up to 10-15 pounds Occasionally sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods of time Supervising camp activities for extended periods of time in various summer weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.)
